We have developed a new application named 3DI2ncw. This application uses AFR (automated feature recognition) and detects machining of 3D solids. The application has no user interface, processes STEP files at this time and detects holes, circular pockets, elongated holes, grooves, rectangular pockets, counterbores and saw cuts.

Additionally, a feature completion is implemented, which is based on so-called feature hints. This should complete the recognised feature so far until a feature that can be converted into machine movements is present. A hint for a rectangle, for example, is present if straight lines and arcs interchange and the straight lines are parallel and perpendicular to each other.

Technical details and our goal
Our application automatically analyzes the solid and identifies machining patterns (standard machining processes). A STEP file is used as a basis according to AP203 Class 6. STEP means STandard for the Exchange of Product model data.
Our goal:
Every unnecessary step during data exchange between design and production can lead to frustrating errors in data transmission. We have tried to create compatibility
